BLACK OBSIDIAN CHIPS - SIZE: SMALL

Black Obsidian is a glassy lustre rock that forms from volcanic lava cooling quickly. This stone is sharp and you can easily cut yourself by picking up or grasping this stone with the colour is a complete solid black but on rare occasions it may be almost white.

Obsidian can be found where lava comes into contact with water and around the edges of a volcanic dome or lava flow.

Obsidian was once used in trading by Mayan merchants, dating as far back as 100 years BC. It was also made to produce sharp blades and arrowheads by ancient tribes.
