Herkimer Diamonds share other quartz properties and physical characteristics. They are almost all transparent, with shades ranging from colorless to smoky. Herkimer diamonds are naturally double-terminated, but they are known to appear in a variety of shapes and sizes.
The first discovery of this gem was in Middleville and Little Falls, and the stone was named “Diamonds of Middleville” and “Diamonds of Little Falls”.
