Also known as a dimension stone, marble gets cut into specific sizes further used as a building material.
The colours of marble can vary depending on the mineral contents of the stone. High-quality marble, usually formed from limestone, will be white. Impurities can change the colour of the stone. When marble is purely white, it gets crushed and used as a whitening agent in several manufactured products. Crushed marble is also an excellent acid neutralizer.
Marble receives a rating of three on the Moh’s Hardness Scale. Consequently, it’s easy to carve, furthering the usefulness of this stone, producing sculptures and ornamental objects. Polishing marble creates beautiful pieces of architectural and decorative art, such as floor tiles and stair treads.
