How to Use Crystals in Your Self-Care Routine

How To Use Crystals in Your Self Care Routine

A self-care routine is meant to help us unwind and appreciate some quiet time alone, so why wouldn't we include some of nature's most beautiful and powerful tools? We use crystals to boost our health, mental wellbeing and energy balance so they are a sensible addition to any self-care routine. Here's a few ideas for adding crystals into your self-care routine.

Incorporating Crystals into a Self-Care Routine

Meditation

Meditating is beneficial both for our physical and mental health. It allows us to focus on the present, reduce stress, and increase self-awareness. Combining crystals into our meditation sessions can help us raise our energy levels to that of the crystal or crystals we're using. Since crystals operate at a constant high-vibrational energy, we can attune ourselves to that energy and increase awareness and heighten consciousness.

Place your crystals around you or near you during, or better yet hold them in your hands or even place them on your body if you're lying down during meditation. Relax your mind and let yourself focus on the crystal. Why did you choose that crystal? Focus your mind on that intention during your session and allow yourself to attune to the crystals' energy.

Water

We should implement self-care as often as we can, throughout our day to remind us to be kind to ourselves. We all drink water throughout the day, right? So why not charge that water with crystal energy and boost our hydration. Place your crystals near your glass of water, or directly on top of the lid. Some crystals are even water safe and can be placed in your water. Quartz, and forms of quartz like amethyst and citrine, aventurines, and agates are water safe and won't harm you to drink.

Take advantage of those water safe crystals and place them in your bath water to elevate your bathing experience. A warm bubble bath is a great way to relax and practice self-care. Infuse your bathwater with crystals chosen with a specific intention and lay back and enjoy your super-charged crystal bath.

## Skin Care

Bump up your skin care game and start incorporating crystals into your routine. Taking time out of your day to pamper yourself is a great way to practice self-care. Crystals can be both energetically beneficial and physically beneficial in a skin care routine.

Gua Shas

Improve blood flow and increase firmness with gua shas. The ancient practice of gua sha comes from traditional Chinese medicine and is meant to circulate blood flow and improve lymphatic drainage. Gua shas are traditionally made of jade, but gua shas can be made from many different crystals such as rose quartz, aventurine, and amethyst.

Facial Rollers

Facial rollers help reduce puffiness and increase blood flow. Crystals are naturally cool to the touch, and the cool crystal against our skin can reduce any puffiness in our face if we're tired or have consumed a large amount of sodium. Crystals can warm up after being handled and after the energy in them starts radiating; if this happens, place the roller in the fridge for a few minutes to chill it to get those de-puffing benefits. Facial rollers can also help sink in any skincare moisturizer, oil or serum, helping it absorb into the skin deeper.

Massage Wands

Similar to gua shas, crystal massage wands can help with lymphatic drainage when used on the face and neck. Rounded wands work well for direct skin contact and gentle massaging, while pointed wands can be used similarly to reflexology, using pressure points.

Smoke Cleansing

If you already perform smoke cleansing for the energetic or aromatic benefits, you can include crystals in this practice. Herb or resin smoke can cleanse your crystals, and reset their energy so they can release any stored negativity and work their best for you. Using smoke to cleanse your crystals is a great alternative to cleansing in the sun or moon if you don't have an accessible way to display your crystals directly under the sun or moonlight.

Learning and Organizing

Some people enjoy learning new things and find research and education fun and exciting. If that's true for you, researching different crystal remedies for any problems in your life is a great way to connect to your crystals and set intentions.

If organization is something you find calming, spending some time reorganizing your crystal collection is a good way to bond with your crystals and display them in a way that is most soothing to you.

Therapy

If you attend therapy, or want to attend therapy, crystals can aid in that. Going to therapy is a form of self-care as you're recognizing a need to talk and share and take time for healing your mental health. Sometimes sharing difficult things is hard, so carrying a crystal to help you speak your truth and overcome shyness when discussing challenging things can help. Crystals connected to the throat chakra could be good for this purpose.

Shopping

There is nothing quite like the energy of a crystal store. If you're desiring a new crystal, and in need of some retail therapy, wander the aisles of a crystal store until something sparks your interest. Finding a new crystal for your collection and going home to try and find the best place for it to display is fun and can be therapeutic.

Self-Care and Self Expression

At the end of the day, self-care varies from person to person. You can include crystals in your routines when it makes the most sense for you. The beauty of crystal healing is that it is not linear, and there is no right or wrong way to work with crystals!
