Tumbled stones FAQ
Will tumbled stones actually sell in my shop?
Tumbled stones are the most affordable way into crystals, so almost every customer can say yes. They're small, colourful, meaningful and priced like an impulse buy, and customers come back to add to their collection. Start with 12 to 20 well-known stones (Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Clear Quartz, Black Onyx, Carnelian, Green Aventurine, Tiger Eye, Hematite) and add new colours as you learn what your customers love.
How many stones are in a bag?
Most tumbled stones are sold in 1 lb bags (some in 1/2 lb bags), and every product lists the stone size and the number of stones for each size. As a guide, a 1 lb bag of medium stones holds about 25 to 60. Heavy stones like pyrite and hematite weigh about twice as much, so the same bag holds roughly half as many. Every stone is natural, so counts are always a range.
What should I charge for each stone?
Our rule of thumb: the cheaper and smaller the stone, the higher the markup (5 to 6 times cost), and larger or pricier stones at 3 to 4 times. Round up to easy prices like $1, $2, $3 or $5; a medium stone usually sells for $2 or more. Open The profit math on this bag on any tumbled stone page to see the cost per stone, a suggested shelf price and the profit for every size.
Is there a minimum order?
No. There is no minimum order, so you can try a few bags first and reorder the colours that sell.
How do I get wholesale pricing?
Apply for a free wholesale account. Once you're approved, your wholesale price shows on every product and applies automatically at checkout.
What is the difference between A and B grade?
A grade is our top selection: stronger colour, cleaner stones and more even shapes, great for singles and gift sets. B grade has more natural variation and inclusions at a lower price, which makes it ideal for bowls, scoops and kids' mixes.
Are they natural? What does Enhanced mean?
Most of our tumbled stones are natural stones, simply tumbled and polished. If a stone's colour has been enhanced (for example dyed agate or heat-treated citrine), or it is man-made (like goldstone), it says so in the product title, so you can label it honestly for your customers.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. We ship across Canada and the US from Kitchener, Ontario. For US orders, duties, tariffs and taxes are calculated at checkout.
How do I explain the meanings to my customers?
Every tumbled stone page lists the stone's traditional meanings, chakras and zodiac signs. For signage and customer handouts, see our QuickStudy Guides crystal reference cards.
What if the size I want is out of stock?
Sizes restock regularly, and our bundles only use sizes we have in stock. If you need a specific stone and size, contact us and we'll suggest the closest match.

Buy wholesale tumbled stones in bulk
Stonebridge Imports carries hundreds of wholesale tumbled stones, from everyday favourites like rose quartz, amethyst, clear quartz, black onyx and carnelian to collector stones like larimar, covellite and bumble bee jasper. Most are sold by the 1 lb bag (some by the 1/2 lb), in sizes from mini to XX-large, and every product lists the stone size and how many stones come in each bag.
What are tumbled stones?
Tumbled stones are pieces of rough crystal that spend days turning in a barrel with grit and polish until they come out smooth, rounded and glossy. The result is a stone that feels good in the hand, shows off its colour and pattern, and is small enough for a pocket. A few stones that are too soft or fragile to tumble, like selenite, are polished by hand instead.
Why tumbled stones sell so well
- An easy yes for every customer. At a few dollars a stone, tumbles are an impulse buy, a gift, a collection starter and a repeat purchase all at once.
- Strong margins. You buy by the bag and sell one stone at a time, so most tumbles sell for 3 to 6 times their cost. Each product page shows the math for every size.
- Meaning sells. Every stone comes with traditional meanings, chakras and zodiac signs listed, so it's easy to build intention bowls, gift bags and signage.
- Endless display options. Bowls at the till, pick-your-own bars, jars, grab bags, kits, kids' mixes and market trays.
Choosing sizes and grades
Small and medium stones are the classic pocket size and sell fastest from bowls. Larger stones work as palm and display pieces at higher price points. A grade is our top selection with the strongest colour; B grade has more natural variation at a lower price, ideal for scoops and kids' mixes. Heavy stones like pyrite and hematite hold fewer stones per bag, so check the count on each listing. Any stone whose colour has been enhanced, or that is man-made, says so in its title.
